It is addressed to all manufacturers whose constructions include welded parts, with the aim of ensuring the quality and safety of constructions, works and workers. At the same time, the approval of welding procedures and the certification of the suitability of welders is a necessary requirement of all European Directives that refer to the manufacture of machinery and equipment.
WHO IT MAY CONCERN
The welding process used by the manufacturer, according to the European Standard ISO 15609 must be evaluated by carrying out a series of tests/checks so as to ensure the quality and safety of the constructions.
At the same time, the welder qualification certification certifies the welder's ability to perform welding work according to the approved procedure. This is achieved through checks and tests referred to in the European Standard ISO 9606.
The procedure followed by the company's welder for the welding of a structure is recorded (e.g. welding of steel sheets of certain thicknesses with a coated electrode or TIG). This is how a welding specification (Welding Procedure Specification - WPS) is formed, with specific parameters (type/quality/dimensions of materials, type/position of welding, V/A current parameters, etc.). The welding specification must be certified by the accredited body (EUROCERT) according to the ISO 15614 standard.
For certification, it is necessary to create a welding sample of dimensions defined by the above standard. The welding of the sample is done
according to the specification (WPS), in the presence of an inspector of the Accredited Body and sent to an accredited laboratory to carry out the
prescribed tests.
In case of satisfactory results, a welding process approval certificate is issued according to the aforementioned standard.
The qualification of welders according to an approved welding procedure is carried out in accordance with the ISO 9606 standard.
The welder performs welding work on a suitable test according to the certified procedure in the presence of an inspector from the Accredited Body. The sample is sent to an accredited laboratory for ISO 9606 testing.
In case of satisfactory results, a certificate of welder competence is issued for a specific welding process, according to the aforementioned
standard.
- Compliance with legislation
- Quality assurance of construction welding works and worker safety.
